ECU will never ask for your personal or credit card information online, over the phone, or via email.
Sometimes imposters pose as a business to trick people into giving out personal information. Imposters may also use a tactic called "spoofing" which makes a phone call appear to come from a legitimate business such as Eastman Credit Union. If you receive a call from someone asking for your personal information, hang up immediately and call ECU at (800)999-2328.
“Phishing” is a widely used scam intended to lure unsuspecting victims into divulging sensitive account or credit card information.
Here are some great tips on how to protect your information:
- Never reply to email, text, or pop-up messages that ask for your personal, financial, or credit card information, and don’t click on links or attachments contained with them – even if the message seems to be from an organization you trust.
- Never give your personal information such as your account number, social security number or credit card information to anyone who contacts you, period!
- Assume that anyone who contacts you via a pop-up message, phone, email, text, or mail claiming you’ve won a free gift is a scammer.
