    Mobile Deposits

    Deposit your checks with the camera on your Apple or Android device. Just snap, tap and deposit! It’s that easy. Simply click on the Check Deposit button within the ECU app and register today.

     

    How to Register

    1. Log in to your ECU Mobile app
    2. Tap 'Check Deposit' in the bottom menu
    3. Read and accept the End User Agreement

    Within 3 business days you will receive an email about your registration.

    In order to utilize the service, members must be 13 years of age and must have an active primary share account in their name and social security number that has been opened for at least 30 days.

     

    How to Make a Mobile Deposit

    1. Log in to your ECU Mobile app
    2. Tap 'Check Deposit' in the bottom menu
    3. Select the account you would like the deposit to go to:

    4. Tap 'Take Photos' and follow the instructions for the front and back:

    5. Repeat step 5 to deposit multiple checks
    6. Click 'Submit' when complete
    7. Confirm the information and click 'Submit' again

    Your check(s) may be held for review for multiple reasons. To view the status, click the 'folder' icon in the top-right:

    FAQs

    • What are the eligibility requirements to use Online Deposits?

      In order to utilize the service you:

      • Must be at least 13 years of age.
      • Beyond Free Checking account must have been opened for at least 30 days.

      ECU will not offer this service to any member if their checking account was previously closed with a negative balance, resulting in a loss to ECU or if we have previously had written off loans.

    • Is there a fee to utilize Online Deposits?

      No. Online Deposits is a free, convenient service provided to Eastman Credit Union members.

    • How do I register for Online Deposits?

      To register via a computer: Simply login to your ECU Online account and click on the Online Deposits link in the Additional Services menu. Select your account and hit "Enter" to launch the program (You may be notified that you are being transferred to a trusted partner - simply click OK if you agree to proceed). Read and accept the End User Agreement and if you meet the criteria, you will be registered and have access to the system. You will receive an email notification with the status of your registration request within three (3) days.

      To register via Apple or Android devices: Simply login to your ECU Online account via the ECU Mobile Application, which can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store or the Android Marketplace. Click the Deposit Checks link in the bottom menu. Read and accept the End User Agreement and if you meet the criteria, you will be registered and have access to the system. You will receive an email notification with the status of your registration request within three (3) days.

    • What are the hardware and software specifications for Online Deposits?
      • Supported browsers are defined in the ECU Browser Policy Statement
      • TWAIN-compliant document scanner (To find out if your scanner is compliant, please refer to the documentation that was supplied with the scanner. For help with your scanner, log in to your ECU Online account and click on the Online Deposits link in the Additional Services menu. Once you have logged into the Online Deposits system, click on "Help with Scanners and Drivers" near the bottom of the page).
    • Can I use my home scanner?

      Online Deposits uses the TWAIN specification for communicating with scanners. Most scanner software supports the TWAIN specification, but not all. For the latest information for specific scanners, enter the Online Deposits program and click "Help with Scanners and Drivers" at the top of the New Deposit screen or consult with your scanner manufacturer for information on their support for TWAIN on your device.

    • How should I endorse the check?

      The back of each check must include:

      1. The words "For Mobile Deposit at ECU"

      3. The payee's signature

      PLEASE NOTE: If the back of the check is not properly endorsed, we reserve the right to reject the check for deposit.  The words "Mobile" or "Online" are acceptable when endorsing the check.  The words "ECU" or "Eastman Credit Union" are also acceptable when endorsing the check.

    • What else will I need to do to send in my deposit?

      After you endorse the back of the check(s) according to the indications above, you will need to do the following:

      If using a PC:

      1. Log in to your ECU Online account

      2. Click on Online Deposits in the Additional Services menu

      3. Select your account and press "Enter"

      4. Select your scanner (you will only need to do this one time)

      5. Enter the total deposit amount of your check(s)

      6. Scan the front and back of your check(s)

      7. Review and submit your deposit

      If using a mobile device:

      1. Log in to your ECU Online account via the ECU Mobile application

      2. Click Check Deposit in the menu

      3. Select your account

      4. Enter the amount of the check you are depositing

      5. Take a picture of the front and back of your check(s)

      6. Review and submit your deposit

    • What types of accounts can I make an Online Deposit?

      Deposits can be made to an ECU savings or checking account.

    • How many checks can be included in one deposit? Can multiple deposits be submitted each day?

      Via a computer, up to 999 checks can be included in one deposit. Via a mobile device, only one check can be submitted at a time. Multiple deposits can be submitted as long as the accumulated dollar amount of the deposit(s) does not exceed the daily deposit limit.

    • How quickly will the funds be available for me to use?

      Please refer to our Funds Availability Policy to find out how soon your deposit will be available for your use.

    • Are there any types of checks that cannot be submitted using Online Deposits?

      The following items cannot be submitted for deposit using Online Deposits:

      1. Savings Bonds

      2. Foreign Checks

      3. Third Party Checks

      4. Any item that is "stale dated" or "post dated"

      5. Any item that is incomplete (i.e. missing the date, missing the payee, etc.)

      6. Any item that contains evidence of alteration to the information on the check

      7. Any item that is stamped with a "non-negotiable" watermark

      8. Checks previously submitted for deposit

      9. Checks purported to be a lottery or prize winning

      10. Substitute checks

    • How long should I hold on to my check(s) after I scan it using Online Deposits?

      Once you have scanned your check(s) and your deposit has been credited to your account, you should securely store the original check(s) for 90 days before destroying it. Please note, you are solely responsible and liable for the security and storage of the original checks and take full responsibility for any loss or misappropriation of these checks.

    • How do I get a copy of my deposit?

      In order to view a copy of a deposited check, login to ECU Online from a computer, click on Deposit Checks in the Additional Services menu, select the account you would like to use and click enter. Once the Online Deposit service opens, click the Deposit History Tab at the top right corner of the page. A listing of your scanned deposits will be displayed. If you click on the eye icon, you can view the deposit details along with a copy of the items included in that deposit. If you click on the pdf icon, you can download a copy of the deposit and print it or save it to a file on your computer for your records.

    • How long is my deposit history available for viewing?

      Deposit history is available for viewing online for 18 months. For deposit history older than 18 months, you can contact the ECU Service Center at (800) 999.2328.

    • How much time do I have to scan my deposits?

      Twenty (20) minutes. The Online Deposits session will timeout after twenty minutes of inactivity. There is a Session timeout clock displayed on the top right corner of the screen. During the last five minutes of the session, the clock time will appear in red. Every time the page is changed, the clock refreshes.

    • How do I get help if I encounter a problem?

      Online Deposits is designed as an easy-to-use, self-service product with built in “Help”. If using a computer, select "Help" or  click on the question mark icon on each line of the process for a detailed explanation, helpful hints and a short video explanation of each process step. If using a mobile device, helpful hints and tips are displayed throughout the process. If you should require additional assistance beyond what is provided, please contact the Online Relationship Team at (800) 999.2328.
