Skip A Payment Program
For times when making your monthly loan payment may be difficult.
ECU encourages members to make responsible financial decisions, but we know there are times when making your monthly loan payment may be difficult due to certain situations or events.
To help you manage these circumstances, ECU’s Skip A Payment program allows you to skip your ECU loan payment for a month so you can use those funds for other needs.
Eligibility Requirements
- All ECU loans must be current and in good standing.
- You may 'skip' each eligible loan one time per year.
- The loan to be skipped must be current for six months before the skipped payment per loan per calendar year (one skipped payment = one monthly payment, two consecutive bi-weekly payments, or four consecutive weekly payments).
- Interest will continue to accrue during the period being skipped, extending the term of the loan.
- This program does not apply to Mortgage loans, Home Equity loans, Member Business Service loans, Visa® credit cards, Salary Advance loans, Single Payment loans, or Certificate-Secured and Share-Secured loans.
- To skip a Student Loan payment, the member must make principal and interest payments, not just interest-only payments.
- Each Skip A Payment will incur a $25.00 fee. However, due to regulatory requirements, the fee may be waived in some instances.
How It Works
To participate, log in to ECU Online, click 'Loan Center,' and click 'Skip A Payment.' Follow the steps and choose the loan you want to skip; if the criteria above are met, your request will be processed automatically.
If you don't have online access, please print and fill out a separate coupon for each loan to be skipped and return it to any ECU branch or by fax to 423.578.7320.
The coupon can also be emailed via our secure email system by following these instructions:
