Yes! ECU debit and credit cards card have free 24/7 fraud monitoring. You will receive a text, email, and/or call if there is suspicious activity detected on your card. 

Please Note: ECU fraud representatives will never ask for your full card number, CVV code or PIN number. If you feel uncomfortable, please call ECU directly at 800-999-2328, option 4.

Once you respond that a transaction is fraudulent, your card will be blocked to prevent any additional fraudulent charges from occurring. The transaction may or may not clear your account, as the response may not trigger an automatic decline. Your next step would be to contact ECU Card Services for further instruction on how to proceed at 800-999-2328 option 4 or stop by your local branch.

Fraud comes in many forms! However, ECU consistently monitors the latest scams and fraudulent activity. Here are some common scams to look out for:

  • Wire Transfer/Money Order/Zelle
  • Remote computer access – Do NOT provide access to anyone contacting YOU saying they will remote into your computer to ‘fix’ it.
  • Gift card purchase – Do NOT purchase gift cards and provide the numbers to anyone contacting you pretending to be the IRS, Police, ECU, etc.
  • Mobile phone takeover
    • Common request to download an app that allows the scammer to remote in, giving them access to your private information.
  • Romance scam – Builds a relationship over time but needs funds although you have never met them in person.
  • ECU or other financial institution impersonation scam
    • ECU representatives will never ask you to purchase gift cards, request you leave your debit or credit card in a specific location with the PIN number information, nor would we ever request your online banking credentials.
  • Email or text message ploy
  • Lottery/Sweepstakes scam
  • Business email compromise
  • Friend/Family member’s hacked account requesting funds via social media

You may report a lost/stolen card or report fraudulent activity by calling ECU directly at 800-999-2328, option 4.

Outside Business Hours: You may file a dispute online at ecu.org or within the ECU mobile app.

During Business Hours: You may call ECU Card Services at 800-999-2328, option 4 or you may visit any branch location.

A: Helpful tips to troubleshoot:

  • Card must be active for 24 hours.
  • Cell phone number and email address must be on file with ECU for 24 hours.
  • First and Last Name do not exceed 50 characters and contain no spaces or special characters.
  • Username Guidelines:
    • Minimum of 7 characters
    • Must Include 1 alpha character
    • May not be the same as password
    • Special characters allowed: dash, at symbol, and period - @ .
    • Not case sensitive
    • May be an email address
  • Password Guidelines:
    • Minimum 7 characters
    • Maximum 32 characters
    • Must include 1 numeric and 1 alpha character
    • Special characters allowed: ! @ # $ % + / = ~ ?
    • May not use same as previous 4 passwords
    • May not be same as username
    • May not be 3 sequential numbers or letters (123 or ABC)
    • May not be “password”

Activate a new card by calling our secure, automated system: 866-763-3365

The system will prompt you to enter several pieces of information to ensure you have the card.

This service allows ECU to create a stop payment for recurring transactions using Visa debit cards only. There will be a $30 non-refundable fee for this service and the stop payment remains in place for six months.
