ECU Announces Plans for a Hallsville, Texas Branch

    February 12, 2021

Hallsville residents will have their own Eastman Credit Union branch on West Main Street by year-end, as local contractors immediately break ground and begin construction.

“We are excited to announce that we’ve purchased property in Hallsville for our next full-service branch location,” said Kelly Price, ECU’s President and CEO.

This news comes almost a year after ECU celebrated the opening of its Mortgage Lending Center and broke ground for a three-story, 34,000 square-foot facility on a 5-acre site near Pine Tree Junior High School, which will open this summer.

“Opening two branches in 2021 will be very exciting for us and our members.  ECU’s Hallsville location will be the second in Harrison County.  The opening of this branch will provide members access to branches north, south, east, and west of Longview,” said Price.

With approximately 4,000 square-feet, the Hallsville branch, located at 710 West Main Street, will host five drive-through lanes, two ATMs, and safe deposit boxes, in addition to traditional teller and member services.

“Of almost 20,000 ECU members in Texas, about 2,000 members live in close proximity to the new location, and we look forward to sharing the ECU difference with more of this market,” said Price.

Anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or owns a business in Gregg and Harrison Counties may open an account with ECU.  ECU is the 40th largest credit union in the nation and exceeded $6 billion in assets and 260,000 members world-wide in 2020.

“Despite the challenges of 2020, ECU stayed focused on excellent service and exceeding expectations.  When our members needed us the most, we were there.  Our construction projects and expansion prospects continued.  Plus, we added several new jobs to our Texas operations over the last year to serve our rapidly growing membership,” said Price.

In 2020, ECU also announced a record-breaking Extraordinary Dividend given to members based on the amount of interest paid and dividends earned throughout 2020.  This year’s Extraordinary Dividend of $15 million was awarded in late January and brings the total amount returned to members since 1998 to $147 million.
