ECU Mortgage Lending Center Opens in Norton, VA

Eastman Credit Union (ECU) staff and local officials cut the ceremonial ribbon on Wednesday, February 21st signifying the grand opening of ECU’s first Mortgage Lending Center in Norton, conveniently located in the Walmart Shopping Center.
“We are here today because of numerous requests for ECU’s mortgage products and services. One of our goals is to make the communities we serve better places to live and raise families. What better way to start than with a mortgage center? On behalf of ECU and our volunteer, Board of Directors, I’d like to say, we are excited about the opening of this office,” said ECU CEO and president, Olan O. Jones, Jr.
ECU provides financial services to a broad area of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, and currently, more than 6,000 ECU members reside in the areas of Norton city, Lee, Wise, and Dickenson Counties.
“When we see an opportunity in a market to save residents money, we do our best to help them. The mortgage lending center is an opportunity to help meet member requests for mortgage services. With construction projects already scheduled in other areas, the opening of this center was a much quicker alternative to begin extending in-person services in your communities, and this type of office is a concept that we’ve wanted to try for a while,” added Jones.
For those desiring other ECU services, ECU just launched a new website that is optimized for smart devices and provides secure 24/7 online account opening capabilities. Non-members can join ECU, open checking accounts and apply for loans at times that are good for them. ECU’s mobile banking app is one of the best in the nation per reviews collected by Magnify Money in 2016 and 2017 from Google Play and iTunes. There are also full-service branch locations in Duffield and Abingdon, and if needed, many questions can be answered in-person in the new, Norton office.
